Our Joint Sessions of Workshops provide a unique platform for scholars at all stages of their careers, from all parts of the world, and all sub-fields of political science, to come together for several days of intense discussion, feedback and collaboration.

Join us in the radiant red-brick city of Toulouse and online to celebrate the five-decade history of the event that has helped thousands of researchers improve their research, grow networks and secure publishing opportunities.

We will also be joining our host, Sciences Po Toulouse, in marking its 75th birthday, which makes the occasion even more special.

The event

Substantiative

Workshops are closed discussions comprising 15–20 Papers each, and lasting several days.

Focused

The topics of discussion are precisely defined, and only those scholars currently working in the Workshop's field are invited to participate.

Fruitful

Each participant presents a Paper which is then discussed in depth by the group. Participants may attend only one Workshop and must fully participate in all its sessions.

Fees and registration

Registration opens in late January 2023.

Your registration fee will be determined by the format of your Workshop as indicated in the Workshop code prefix in the Academic Programme:

TOU for in-person Workshops held at Sciences Po Toulouse
VIR for virtual Workshops

Participants attending and appearing in any capacity in the Academic Programme must register and pay through our online system before the registration deadline.

All participants must pay a fee, with the exception of Workshop Directors who are exempt from payment but must still register. Your space is not secured until your registration is paid in full.

Funding opportunities

Funding for Joint Sessions of Workshops 2023 is now closed.

If your application is successful, we'll cover your registration fee, plus travel and accommodation costs if you're attending an in-person Workshop.

Event Participation Grant

Open to PhD students and early career scholars from ECPR Full Member institutions.

50th Anniversary Fund

Available to individual scholars who are not eligible to apply for our standard event participant funding scheme.

Please note:

You must not be in receipt of any other funding for this event;
You must not have received funding from ECPR within the last two years.
