How it works

Our Winter School offers a great range of courses expertly designed to suit your research needs regardless of your chosen environment to learn.

Pre-course content

With access to pre-recorded lectures, annotated readings and exercises, you'll have the flexibility and convenience to learn at your own pace. 

Live teaching
All our courses feature at least 2 hours of course classes / live sessions each day, ensuring quality interaction with your Instructor and fellow participants.
Handy extras
To maximise your learning experience, we've added useful features such as office hours and chats with your Instructor, as well as social events.

Good to know  

  • Depending on the course, the maximum capacity is 12 to 24 participants.
  • If the course you would like to attend is fully booked, this will be displayed in the course list and you will be unable to add it to your basket.
  • We may offer a repeat course for fully booked courses, subject to demand.
  • Your space is not secured until your registration is paid in full.
  • In circumstances where demand for a course is insufficient or exceeds the available capacity, your registration may be cancelled and you will receive a refund.

Course format

We are offering both in-person and virtual courses at our 2023 Winter School which are coded as follows in the course list: 

LEU-XXXX: In-person course taking place at KU Leuven
VIR-XXXX: Virtual course

Confirmed courses

Courses are confirmed when they reach a predetermined number of paid participants. The earlier you pay, the earlier a course is likely to be confirmed. 

If a course does not meet the predetermined number of participants, it might be cancelled. If this happens, we will offer you a place on another course of your choice, or a full refund.

All courses will be confirmed or cancelled by 19 December 2022. Please check the homepage regularly for essential event updates.

Combining courses

  • You may choose to take any course on its own or combine it with another course.
  • You can take up to two courses at the Winter School – a maximum of one morning and one afternoon course.
  • Need help with selecting your courses? Get in touch with our Events Team.
If you are considering combining courses, please be aware that this will entail a heavier workload. All courses will require additional work on top of the teaching hours. Before you book, please read the course outlines thoroughly and make sure you are confident you can cope with the schedule.
